The full impact of this astounding performance did not come over so well when positioned 2.25 miles from a screen as it did on TV. I think that, perhaps, when all the hype and self-congratulation has become tomorrow's fish wrapper, it may well end up featuring in one of those endless formulaic Channel 4 hosted by Graham Norton Top 100. Moments of comedy? Acts of camp? Musical memories? Perhaps one of the very greatest TV moments of the 21st Century.
