Yesterday I took the day off work on Annual Leave, a sort of rest day. I was phoned by British Gas, apologising for last Friday's incident. I am being sent a £10 'service voucher' as compensation for the missed call.
Apparently, I can put this towards my annual payment. A sI pay by monthly direct debit, I expect that I then have to post off the 'service voucher' for it to be applied to my account and wait for postal confirmation that it has been so.
A £10 direct credit to my bank account would actually be more tangible in a perverse post-modern 21st century way. As for the amount...!
I don't think a telephone apology really suffices. The woman was terribly nice, and I actually asked her to stop apologising. But it just feels wrong.
This is not the end of the matter. Just one more matter to put on the to-do list.
