A colleague bought a risotto from Tesco. It had their little logo on the front, saying it was suitable for vegetarians. Not that she is a vegetarian. As she was preparing to cook it, she happened to glance at the ingredients and noticed that it contained anchovies and fish stock.
So she wrote a letter to Tesco pointing out that it was incorrectly labelled.
They wrote back saying "Many vegetarians eat fish"...
That's Tesco's definition of a vegetarian: someone who eats fish. they probably think that coeliacs don't mind a bit of gluten. And nut allergics can't handle a bit of peanut.
After her follow-up letter to Tesco she will also be writing to the Vegetarian Society.
