I have a tape of 808 State's ex:el. I taped it off my brother. It's not very good. A load of Ambient Dross. Big at the beginning of the 90s. I think one needed drugs to appreciate it. Although I doubt that the then future Doctor Matt was into drugs, even in Madchester, even in the early 90s.
And then there's Gloria Estefan. I cannot remember and do not know what evil demon possessed me and took me down to the record shop to buy this. There are one or two pleasant chords in 'Can't Stay Away From You', but otherwise, it is the most unmitigated dross in the entire record collection. It wouldn't be so bad if it was bland, but it contains so much quasi-Cuban stuff. Yes, I know that Gloria Estefan is Cuban, but this is Cuban-meets-Floridan MOR. And, it sucks.
Anything For You might be just about tolerable in the voice of a half-decent singer. But, I remind you, this is Gloria Estefan...
