My collection is odd. Sometimes, two records appear on the same home tape for no obvious reason, except timing of acquisition.
I don't recall when I bought Atlantic Soul Classics, and I can't picture the album, which is in the same room as my sleeping fiance. ButI'm pretty sure I have it on vinyl. And there was a logic to buying it. I suppose it's fair to say that most of the tracks are at least fairly good, but despite some rather good tunes, namely Sam and Dave's Soul Man, The Drifters' Under the Boardwalk, and Green Onions by Booker T and The MGs, this is really only worth playing for one track - Otis Redding's (Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay). The rest are wallpaper. Nice enough wallpaper, but nothing remarkable.
The other side is Del Amitri's Waking HOurs. I'm fairly certain that I taped it off my brother's version, although I can't really be sure. And couldn't really care. In the early Nineties there was a feekling that Del Amitri were at the bleeding edge of cynical social comment. I'm still sure they were, but this album doesn't really a do great deal for me now. Except for "Nothing Ever Happens"
