(The couple) left baby Hayden on an eighth-floor landing in their apartment block after a drunken row. But Nicola's mother "This is unlike my girl. I'm sure she meant to bring the baby back into the apartment after the row. Hopefully this misunderstanding can be sorted out and mother and baby can be reunited."
Ha, this is just the sort of mistake people make every day. You know how it is, you get drunk, and you leave a tiny, helpless baby outside. I suppose it's a bit like me getting drunk the other week and leaving my sandals outside the front door. Silly me!
The school holidays began a few days ago. There's someone I know (not a friend). She has a five year old kid, she's on benefits and her partner works - clever that. Every day she's in the pub at ten o'clock, until well into the evening. The kid's a nuisance, she's going to take it to her mother's. She's spending 60 a week on dope.
Why did she have the kid in the first place? Why didn't she keep her legs closed? Contraception isn't rocket science. Maybe it would have been to have had it aborted. (I know, that sounds cruel, but...). In my Utopia kids like that would be taken away from their so-called parents and put in the care of people who understand the concept of 'care' and 'responsibility'
I know that loads of people have accidental children, but I also know that most of those people quickly wake up to their responsibilities. I'm talking about the arsehole minority, safe in the knowledge that given another seven or eight years that woman's child will be terrorising the neighbourhood.
