A warm and bright February Saturday, and it would have been criminal to stay indoors waiting for Spring. So, we went to Folke- stone. So many people out, all along the coast, obviously with this same thought!
We parked up near Martello Tower 3 and walked into The Warren.
It was muddy. A bit daft really: people were telling me "It's muddy! I was telling other people it's muddy but 'weight-bearing', and advising two sartorially-conscious young men that they really didn't want to go there in their pristine white trainers.
We had hoped to get down to the beach but weren't the only ones unable to get a proper grip who turned back.
It was one of those days you could see France - just - and plenty of Channel shipping. It was just after Russia invaded Ukraine, and I later read that the French Navy had intercepted a Russian ship in the Dover Strait but I didn't see them.
We strolled down to the always popular Sunny Sands beach. No surprise it was buzzing; more surprised at how many people were swimming, and two girls of junior school age naked in water-filled holes...in February...!
