The Hythe Venetian Fete, first established in the 1890s, takes place in August every two years. Various local organisations - commercial and not-for-profit - create floats on a theme and parade twice on a section of the Royal Military Canal in the Town Centre. Thousands of people gather on the banks to watch. I was luck enough to find a bench on the tow path, and took a lot of photos of varying quality! I did not seek any special photography access and despite the requests of certain scouts, I tried to avoid taking close-up shots of specific children.

Daytime Parade
There was a pause between parades, and a firework display, but I didn't photograph it, because there was a tree blocking my view, and I decided not to push small children into the canal just to get a few snapshots.
We left during the evening parade; in any case it was better to look at than to photo!
