I'm quite into property porn. I don't watch the property porn shows on the TV but I do like browsing the 'For Sale' sites from time to time. Just a few days ago, I was planning to move into a converted barn to where I went on audit the other day, not far (but far enough!) from London Farnborough Airport.
But I've changed my mind. I have never in my life seen a house I want so much. It has so much going for it. It's just over 3 miles from my mother's house, walking distance of Altrincham town centre, close to Dunham Massey park. Close, but not too close to Manchester International Airport.
If I had £2 million (or let's be honest, the way the housing market is now, £1.75 million) I'd be onto the Estate Agent rightaway.
Wait on! Did I read that correctly: shute to pool? By jingo, I did
Country Life listing - it's described as being in Cheshire, but I know it's Greater Manchester - it's hop ,skip and jump from my old school.
It has its own website, although I can't get the videos to play, but the brochure describes more, including the Architects' Philosophy:
The dialectics of architecture and landscape, light and shade, inside and outside are at their most exhaltant* in this building. They are not separate. Their limits define and celebrate each other.
In listening and enquiring to the site, it has, in its own way, guided how the design should manifest. The radial form of the building carefully and respectfully responds to the embrace of the site’s densely vegetated boundary.
Mind you, once the novelty had worn off, you'd probably get bored of sliding out bed into the pool. But I wouldn't!
* did they mean 'exultant'? If so, it's a shoddy lack of attention to detail!
