I had this all to myself last Saturday. It's alongside Sinderland Brook, which separates Sale and Altrincham.
I walked from the A56 main road (near the Pelican) up to Woodheys Park and did not pass a soul. It did cross my mind - if I were to be attacked it might be days before anyone found me. Meanwhile, of course, the A56 was bumper-to-bumper with traffic going nowhere fast.
Given that I wasn't attacked, but did get mud on my shoes and the bottom of my trousers, who do you think was better off?
