Actually, if you read the interview, he doesn't actually say so quite so definitely. And it is inconsistent with the interview published three weeks ago which says he will finally appear in the reprise of the Royal Opera’s Ring in 2012.
To which I say: whatever. Retire, don't retire. Make your mind up.
And apparently he's going to be on BBC Breakfast at about 8.45 am today, like in less than half an hour. I won't be watching
