I think there is something bizarre about the way I shop. I spend days, weeks, months, even years thinking 'I want that'. I spend some time doing sensible research, t'internet, friends etc. It takes me time to get round to getting to the appropriate shop. I walk into said shop and I make selection within minutes. And after that, all those days and weeks and months of cogitating, needless to say I want it now.
Today I bought a bike. A Track-and-Terrain bike. Cheap. About the second cheapest that fulfilled my criteria. 15" frame, aluminium (lightweight) frame, 21 gears. And not pink. But they wouldn't let me take it away on the spot - some stuff about roadworthiness or whatever...
I could have picked it up on Tuesday, but I have a doctor's appointment about my knee, so I said Thursday evening or Friday morning. Which is, like, a week away. Grumble grumble.
I had a ride round the shop. You have no idea how long it is since I've been on a bike. But you know what they say, it's like riding a bike.
It's like swimming, too. I have spent far too many years messing about in the water. Mainly because quite a lot of my swimming has been in the sea, which has contributed to my antipathy to putting my face in the water.
Knock knock it isn't really possible to swim without putting one's face in the water. When I was little I was pretty good at being able to swim underwater with my eyes open. And gazooks! I managed it again today! When I have my head down, my arm movement follows naturally. Now, all I have to do is remember is to raise my head every two or three strokes to breathe. And to breathe in through my nose. And I move through the water.
