I can't believe I've got to go back to work tomorrow. God, my life sucks...
I haven't worked since the Thursday before Christmas. I resolved on the Friday I would do my ironing. I have discovered that ironing tires me out if I attempt to do it all at once. So, I thought, bit at a time, no pressure, no hassle. A few items a day.
Of course, I immediately saw a flaw in that. It involves leaving the ironing board out. Or lots of hassle in getting it out on a daily basis.
I thought, what I could do, is iron a few items a day whilst watching DVDs. An approach of genius. I have a database of all the operas I have on CD, DVD etc. It currently stands at about 500 items, including about 150 operas on DVD (or waiting to be converted to DVD) that I haven't played. If I played one a week, that would take me three years, even assuming I don't acquire any more. One a week may not seem a great many, but that total doesn't include concerts documentaries etc. Nor does it take into consideration that I actually want to watch many of my collection again, and maybe again.
This post isn't really about ironing and watching DVDs. I could provide a list of things that I felt two weeks ago would be ideal ways of filling the long blank boring hours when I'm not at work and not with my lover. Tidying up various parts of the house, editing an enormous backlog of photographs, establishing and maintaining social contact with various people who live outside the internet.
Sometimes, cocooning, chilling and resting are attractive occupations!
