Jimmy thinks this is hilarious because I *never* get colds. I certainly don't get man-flu. I was fine in my first meeting of the morning; in my second, I had to leave the room to get a tissue. and it steadily progressed from there.
It's very confusing. It's not strictly true I don't get colds. They come round every couple of years or so and linger for a day or two, so by my advanced age I have some experience of the common cold. But this is almost a novel experience. Apart from a problematic nose, my other symptoms are aching limbs, feeling very hot in the office and extreme tiredness. And what are they also the symptoms of - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. And yet I am feeling very energetic. Which is weird, because the overheating, aching limbs etc usually knock me out. Tired and energetic. V. confusing. and v. annoying, because what usually completely knocks me out each month has been survived elegantly. Sods bloody law.
Last time I got a cold, I announced on blog, back in the days when blog was a personal journey through my life, that I was retiring to bed to read Roy Jenkins on Churchill. I got mocked for that. I think I shall just retire to bed and cuddle up with the teddy bears - mind you, they always have a habit of coming down with whatever affliction is affecting the human residents of Gert Cottage, so I'm going to end up with two teddy bears with colds, and being male teddy bears, suddenly it will be 'flu'. And trust me, teddy bear man flu is not a good thing to be nurse to.
