Oh god, I actually thought I was going to pass out I was hyperventilating so much. Sale of single tickets for the Metropolitan Opera started at midday NY time which I calculated to be 5pm my time, so I got onto the site at 4.30pm to find them already on sale. With. a. real---ll---y slow...server. Because I hadn't registered I got timed out and my ticket taken away from me and I had to start all over again. But I have a ticket. Problem is, it's gonna be held at the Box Office at Lincoln Center - which is fair enough - and I have to present Jimmy's credit card. He won't be going to New York. I wonder if I contact them and explain, they'll let me present my (non-photo but addressed) driving licence, passport, two utility bills, Audit Warrant and Official UK Government Pass. Hmm...
So, this Iphigenie en Tauride opera, is it any good? just kidding, I have heard an audio version, and I have a DVD on my to-do list, and I'm going to the Covent Garden baritone version in September
My next challenge is trying to get a ticket for Romeo and Juliette. I'm not going all the way to New York to end up taking a trip on the Long Island Railroad to see it at a cinema when I could do that on a 417 bus from home to Clapham Common.
I suppose now I'm going to the Met I shall have to relearn when to applaud. I understand it's a) at the scenery and b) when the star makes his first appearance on stage...
While I'm there, I wouldn't mind visiting Pampano
