I've been away since Friday morning, and although I have had some internet access, it would have been v. rude to sit at someone else's PC posting lots of links.
The Evening sub-Standard had a photo-documentary* on how the nose is installed: Placido's one-hour nose job and a review Domingo redeems lost work
Domingo, in his mid-sixties, still has artistic generosity, nobility and control, and a capacity to spin gold from straw. Had he not been singing, I would have needed padlocking to my seat. Instead, he made the evening remarkable.
The Sunday Times says: Another Feather in His Cap - a bit acerbic, but I do like the "ladiesÂ’ hairdos apparently modelled on the heads of poodles after a dip in the pond" - the review namechecks a few of the smaller roles, including Iain Paterson as Le Bret.
Domingo dominates says the Observer, and the IoS weighs in with Sadly this opera is just a one-man show (but another positive namecheck for Iain Paterson).
And for those of you who don't read the comments, you absolutely have to check out the fantastic Cyrano de Mexico video that Raffe has unearthed - guaranteed to become a favourite with those connoisseurs of video, Faye and Favourite Niece...
