Called confusion!
Or guinea-pig syndrome...
Scuse me for being sceptical. Cynical, even...
I went to the hospital today to see the Consultant Homeopathic Rheumatologist, about my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and it turns out he's left, so I was seeing the Professor and a team of his students. As I walked in the door He announced,
"You've had a vague diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but it's obvious that you have fibromyalgia (which I diagnosed off the internet years ago...). Where do you work?" I told him and braced myself for the inevitable cracks...which did not fail to materialise...and then he asked whether I would be interested in participating in a clinical trial - "but only if you meet certain criteria..."
Apparently, this will be about having MRIs (presumably of the brain - I had one of those really years ago but they didn't find anything...!) and taking anti-depressants, which is a bit weird because I'm not depressed, but apparently it's a theory they have. Well, of course I said yes, although I haven't spoken to the co-ordinator yet. I mean, me being a laboratory experiment! Cool or what! It's all about ME.
After all, it is ME Awareness week. Honest. I'd love a badge that says "Be Aware of ME".
But apparently, I haven't got ME...
