Diana died, as did Dodi and the driver because, unlike the man who survived, they were not wearing seatbelts.
It is bloody obvious that if you are a passenger in a car being driven at speed by a drunken driver through a notorious accident blackspot, without a seatbelt, you are going to die.
Why no seatbelt?
Arrogance.
And thus, in a very precise sense, deserved.
Or as someone said, Diana died, Dodi died, the Dodo died, Dido'd better watch out...
