Maestro Muti quits La Scala post
It's been quite a saga, all tied up in the politics of Milan (Forza Italia) with intervention expected from Berlusconi, with Maestro Muti pitted against ust about all the other employees of La Scala.
After his hissy fit in deserting the Royal Opera's staging of La Scala's dismal Forza, coupled with Workers' Rights, I feel a sense of satisfaction.
Hear the joke about Riccardo Muti being stranded in the desert. For days he walked, then stumbled, then crawled desperate for water. Finally, he came upon an oasis, and in the final stages of desperation, reaches into the pool, takes a handful of water. "At last!" he sighs, and puts it on his head, smoothing his hair, before checking his reflection in the pool.
A word to La Scala. Hands off Pappano!
