Controversial in blogland. But I do like him. Not so much that I would pay to see him. But I wouldn't turn down a free ticket. Good. Not great. But good.
Greatest Hits Volume I and Volume II, taped off my sister's album a good few years ago.
I like the fact that he tells interesting stories with catchy tunes. The best songs - Piano Man; Movin' Out; My Life, Goodnight Saigon, and Uptown Girl. It's one of those albums that's worth giving a close listen to, but also decent to have as background.
Listening to this, I can't help reflecting how strange pop music is - or any other cultural phenomenon, for that matter. Billy Joel never ever quite hit the A List, even at his peak, and he rarely gets mentioned now. But I do like this album. and if the tape ever got eaten, I'd probably replace it on CD.
