I haven't really said anything. Not much to say. The Guardian Leader says it all, really.
If, and I know it's just if at the moment, this was a suicide bid by the car driver, it is an extraordinarily selfish way to do it. Surely suicide should be a private decision and a private action.
Or it might be some arrogant 'I know best' bastard who believed that the level crossing didn't apply to them, becaue it's just Rules, from Them, the Authority people, and why should I comply with Them?
On the other hand, the poor sod might just have broken down. What a fucking nightmare place to break down.
I don't really like level crossings. Excluding trams, which don't count, there are none near me. I don't think I've used one since I visited Custom House in Avonmouth in about 1996.
The Mirror says
The number of deaths at railway crossings has risen, experts said last night.Arseholes.But most are caused by drivers trying to dodge the barriers.
