On Wednesday, I got Sky+ and decided to record something, anything, just to experiment. What I recorded was the 1929 film Piccadilly. A silent film. It was excellent. I was startled at how good it was. Without dialogue, and with just occasional captions, the actors had to act with their faces. Interesting to see just how much nuance and plot can be conveyed by face alone. It was also interesting to see just how similar 1920s London was to the present day.
It will be interesting to see how much I use the extra functionality of Sky+ - being able to watch and record simulataneously. I often find that a half hour programme that I have taped because I'm out gets stuck on a tape between two things I want to keep. This should eliminate that.
