Cardinal's anger at sex lessons
Guess what folks, at my Catholic Primary School, with an old-school traditional headmaster (retired 1979) we had sex education. They didn't call it sex education. They called it Nature, and we learnt about the life cycle of the butterfly, and the tadpole. I don't think we did mammals until secondary school. Then we had our Rubella jabs - girls only. Nobody bothered to explain to us why it happened like that - it just seemed that we were randomly singled out for an assault by a needle.
Times have changed; many girls are now reaching puberty at Primary School. Presumably the arsehole cardinal expects them to bleed in ignorance of why. Does he know anything about women bleeding? Does he know how important it is for girls to understand why before it happens?
Nursery school kids want to know where babies come from. It's actually very relevant to their lives; if they're not getting new siblings, many of their friends are.
Of course all sex education, just like Reading, Riting, Rithmetic and the Rest should be age appropriate.
When will the Catholic Church get itself out from up its own arse? It seems exponentially worse in Scotland than in England and Wales. I wonder why.
Yet otherwise intelligent people still regard them as having credibility.
