The other night on the phone, my mother and I were happily slagging off Peter Maxwell Davies, then she pointed out to me he has a new CD out conducted by the lovely Martin, first love of my life (1984).
Would it be very sad to buy it, even though I don't like Peter Maxwell Davies - but the Guardian calls these 'among his most approachable works'.
It's one thing collecting CDs where Martin is playing the organ - Taverner's Akathist of Thanksgiving and, er, Princess Diana's funeral (TV audience 4 billion) - but probably a bit sad buying a CD where he's conducting...
