Early in my days of blogging I reported on the Planning Committee where we (including Yours Truly) gave the go ahead for this project.
It wasn't without controversy, and we were subject to heavy lobbying. Just a couple of months ago I bumped into Leslie who had been councillor for Bishops Ward and had lobbied heavily and courteously against the proposals, and he chided me for my role in granting the permission.
And I nearly had a blazing row with a work colleague who refused to accept that the South Bank is part of LB Lambeth, and was most miffed at the thought that Little Ol' Me, being a member of Lambeth's Planning Committee, had tremendous power in deciding the future strategic direction of London.
