Constantly played over the weekend Brahms Symphony No 1. I think it might be this version. It's certainly von Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker, and I probably got it around 1990,but without going to the magical-cupboard-in-the-bedroom to examine the vinyl sleeve, I can't be totally sure.
It's so tuneful!
You know, I am absolutely conviced it was inspired by the majestic architecture of Cologne Cathedral, but having never been to Cologne, or anywhere in Germany, except the singularly depressing Frankfurt airport, I must be wrong, especially since I know nothing about music, so I must be confusing it with Schumann's third symphony.
