Curse this rule about not blogging about the substance of work. I have had a really amazing day as part of my 'Out of Office Experience', the scheme whereby back-office staff are expected to spend a day on the frontline, either in the Department or in a funded organisation. I would so wish to blog about the details of my day, which I spent in a well known airport deep in the Sussex countryside. I want to tell you about the job, and how I nearly met a semi-famous Formula 1 driver, but didn't, and all the super experiences I experienced. But I can't, so I shall have to confine it to my personal journal.
My shift started at 7 and I have just got home. Did you know they are building another pier at North Terminal, and as part of it they are building a bridge that has to be wide enough to span the taxi way and tall enough for a 707 to pass under? They're building it ex situ and are then going to move it into place in one piece? I want to tell you about all the really nice Americans and Zimbabweans I met. But I can't.
