This is a work in progress
I am trying to do an updated list of tunes (and I do like that word, say it out loud a few times) that speak to me in a way I can't explain. About four years ago I went through a process of identifying about 100 songs that withstood repeated playing, and whittled it down on the eve of the Millennium to a top twenty, which then expanded by 10%. However, it is a narrow list, containing only stuff from the pop charts and covering little more than my lifetime.
I am trying to play through my entire record collection, which is difficult when I am playing the same few records over and over again. But, I swear, by the time I am forty, I will have done so!
I shall provide links, where possible, to the actual version of the tune as appears in my record collection, but there may be better ones out there.

Bist du bei mir - Play Track 8 here - but it sounds a million times much better on my stereo than on Real Player from my PC *sigh*. And this excerpt does little to capture the sheer - I'm tempted to say sexiness, but it's not quite the right word - of the overall effect.
