John has left a comment regarding GWB's forthcoming visit to Britain, which has shocked me. I do very much welcome such contributions - articulate and reasoned, calm and courteous, even where there's clearly a difference of opinion.
Not even a difference of opinion, more an arguing from different premises. I am absolutely not advocating a flame war - far from it, I want to encourage erudite debate.
Why do I feel deeply uncomfortable about a police force from another country having some powers to operate in my country; is my discomfort different from my cheery acceptance of (and use for General Knowledge quiz) that the French police have some powers to operate in and around Waterloo Station? Isi t merely because of my visceral dislike of GWB and his puppet masters, a visceral dslike shared by a large proportion of the UK population. Or would I feel the same if it was, say, Helen Clark of New Zealand or Lula of Brazil visiting?
