I've omitted Jason Kottke because he refused to come over and confirm or otherwise his status as a giant amongst men.
I have taken away from you your boots, your incredible heels, your fluffy/spikey hair, your boxes and your aeroplanes.
Diamond Geezer states in the comments below:
The average UK woman is 161cm (5'3½") tall, while the average UK man is 175cm (5'9") tall.
This tallies with my own perceptions; besides, Diamond Geezer is the Numbers Man.
Kate, at 5'6" and Ann-Charlotte, at 5'8½" claim also to be average. Kate is from the USA and Ann-Charlotte is from Sweden. I have an additional perception that the British are, in general, shorter than people from North and Eastern Europe, and those Americans who are ethnically European. Nick's comment supports my perception.
As I received far more comments than I ever expected, many from first time commenters, it would be a bit of a waste of time to try to determine whether there are any national trends.
However, the highlights so far:
Jae and Jax are our tallest male and female bloggers respectively at 6'8" and 6'1" respectively. The not especially short Simon is our shortest male blogger at a statuesque 5'6" and a bit. Ickle Robyn and Wee Joe are propping up the giraffes from an entirely reasonable 5' each.
The average blogger (mean and median) is 5'9", an honour shared by Adrian, Blue Witch and Green Fairy. The average male is 6' exactly - Lionel, Mark and Gordon. The average female blogger is 5'4" - Junio, Lori, Emma, and Annie.
Interesting I got so many comments. I suppose, I asked you to talk about you. Nobody was going to contradict you. And it's hardly personal information, as it can be estimated by just about any person who meets you.
Incidentally, only three volunteered their weight. That, I think, is where it gets personal. But for your information, I am 7 stone 3 pounds ;)
I'm working on the graphics but having been to Liverpool and back today I need to go to bed.
