Didn't I say last night I would go to Croydon to spend a small fortune on things for my living room. You would have thought it relatively easy to buy curtains, cushions, throws, rugs, lighting. After all, there's Allders, BHS & Debenhams to choose from. But I walked out of each of those stores in disgust. The fact that they were vastly overheated was a minor irritant. The fact that they were playing music loudly - or rather, some tuneless howling that seems to pass as music these days - made it impossible for me to concentrate on what I was doing. So even though I realised I was turning into my parents, I walked out. If the course - which tomorrow is in Central London - finishes at a reasonable time, I will go instead to John Lewis.
Pah, stupid Croydon silly suburban town with stupid pretensions of being a city.
I popped into Homebase on the way home, to look at Laminate Flooring. The installation of it seems pretty daunting. Or perhaps a bit daunting to do this weekend. I'm going to suggest to loverboy that this weekend we finish off the very last of the painting, scrub the sofas, finish off the tiling in the shower-room and do the shopping for the flooring, but we don't actually lay the flooring until we have plenty of time for a clear run eg the next Bank Holiday weekend.
