Sort of, anyway:) Damn difficult to take a photo of a ring.
18 carat gold with an inlay of white gold and six tiny diamonds setting off a ruby. Bought in Egypt, where you get more for your money.
Just so that you know. Jimmy and I have decided to get married for all sorts of romantic notions. We haven't decided on a date yet. There are various things to factor in - such as my brother marrying in September, the need to sell the business, where we shall live, what to do with his ageing father etc.
We are marrying because it's a nice way (but not the only way) of making a lasting commitment. It also simplifies things in relation to the 'next-of-kin' and pensions. It does not imply a higher or lower moral state than any other living arrangement. We are not doing it in order to conform with societal norms or expectations. It will make no difference to who we are as people and it's not an 'achievement' to be ticked off a list. I will not change my surname, and will not be known as Mrs Mc except in those trivial circumstances where it is easier to give one surname than two, and I will still rant and rave about inappropriate use of titles. (Although it could be fun when people ask to speak to Mrs C. I can offer them Ms C. or Mrs Mc, but no Mrs C. - she's two hundred miles away). And if anybody asks when will we be having children they will go away with a flea in their ear.
