I rarely look at the Activity Log associated with this site. It lists various admin things, but also what internal searches have been carried out. Most of them are neutral and sensible, most of the rest are entirely consistent with the googling that have got people here in the first place.
But a few are potentially a little disquieting. There seems to a certain amount of vanity searching by a close relative aged approximately nine years old; also a series of searches from or about the sister of someone I was madly in love with years ago. Also something current and personal about someone (I'm being deliberately vague).
Just a reminder that the internet may seem a vast anonymous amorphous place, but search engines render it very personal.
I'm thankful I have been relatively cautious. There are a few times I've wanted to write something and have held back, knowing that someone else could make a guess - correct or incorrect - about who it's about, or could make assumptions about private matters, again correctly or incorrectly. It's not the place of this blog to reveal aspects about the lives of current, former or old friends that they may not wish to be common knowledge. And I try to err on the side of caution.
Of course, when I slag off people eg work colleagues, I don't use their names, but another work colleague would be able to guess who it was. that's probbaly not very smart, but, hey...!
