The doleful march of benefit fraud and error

Years ago I was told that the accounts on benefit will always be qualified, because of the inherent errors in the system. I suppose much of these errors could be eliminated, but the cost would be high. Not just in the cost of employing tens of thousands of investigators but in the reputational cost of DWP snoopers scutinising every aspect of claimants' lives.
