Really fascinating analysis of the demography of Britain. I can identify with
Looked at in the round London is a foreign country, independent of the rest of Britain...The case of inner London, where the young poor and rich mingle but don't meet, is more extreme.
I joked with Jimmy last night, "How many people do you know who go to Covent Garden one week and Wimbledon dogs the next?"
Great egalitarian me! But, in all honesty, what Covent Garden and Wimbledon Dogs have in common is that they are filled with people living in their own little cocoon and thinking either that everybody is like them or that The Other is so different as to be alien.
I think Sociology is a fascinating subject. Unfortunately, the Sociology I studied as a first year undergraduate was so dry, abstract, pretentious and divorced from actually studying society that it bored me.
