As I made my coffee earlier, I was pondering the relationship with other bloggers. Bloggings a big part of my life. I care about the people on my blogroll. In fact, it would be fair to say that I am currently obsessing about one blogger - in a safe way, repeatedly checking the aggregator to see whether they have updated, wanting to (but refraining from) comment on every post, and reading back through their archives. Theres about fifteen people on my blogroll whom Ive met, and a good few more who arent on my blogroll for a variety of reasons eg they rarely update (you know who you are).
If I told my colleagues or my Real Life Friends about those people on the Internet, about how we meet up, how I regard them as friends, they would be carting me off to the Funny Farm. Or warning me of how vulnerable I am to these Internet People.
I checked over on Mikes site and was amazed to find Karens comment #17.
I guess you lot know more about me than most of my RLFs or colleagues. I expect that in many cases I know more about you. Were all partial with the truth, and Im sure most of us tend to put a positive spin on things, but, by and large, I broadly believe much of what I read.
But really, how many people come with a reference? You have to take people at face value. Most of the people I call friends in Real Life I met randomly. Just because we studied, or worked, or politicked, or drank together doesnt mean that they arent mad axe wielders. You take a chance. You can trust your instincts.
I drafted this in Word, and spellchecked it and guess what it suggested for Blogging Belonging!
