Body hair is natural - did you know that women have as many hairs on their face as men but it is finer?
The human body is covered in hair except for a few places such as the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.
The norms of society dictate that body hair in women is unsightly. This is a message I have taken to heart since my mid teens. I once pulled a sicky from work because my legs were too hairy to wear a skirt, and it was a hot day. I went to get my legs waxed. Migraine, I said on my sick form.
I'm less paranoid these days. Besides, years of waxing have left my lower legs virtually hair free. A quick shave in May has got me to now.
The night before holiday.
Suddenly, the hair removal cream has to be used. Can't have hairy legs when walking round the Highlands, now, can we?
What a palaver. One lot says Apply a layer 1/16 of an inch thick. Forgot to get the callipers.
Cream is smeared over legs and arms. And toilet lid and shower room floor. And taps. And windowsill. And pair of sunglasses on windowsill.
A cigarette is smoked and it's time to remove.
Why is there always a little bit of hair left round the elbows and knees? And dry red skin metamorphosises in an instant.
Next stop - do toenails. Pink, I think.
