I don't know whether I should be concerned but there have ben two loud bangs, at roughly half-hour intervals seemingly yards from Gert Cottage.
They're not cars backfiring. If they are fireworks they are the loudest fireworks I have ever heard. I don't think they're bombs - they don't sound like any bombs I have heard explode.
I suppose they could be demoliton-related, but I am not aware of any explosive demolitions planned round here.
I hope they're not gunshots, but, I suppose, there would be some personal comfort if they were.
I've not heard any sirens from the Emergency Services.
I suppose I get a little jumpy because I share a party wall with a company that sells car-paint.
