Faye

I was working in Paris when she died and my office was just round the corner from the Pont D'Alma.

For some reason I ended up giving a couple of interviews to the French and German media, because they wanted the reaction of an "English" person and I was probably the only Brit they could find who spoke the lingo.

Don't think I said anything remotely profound or intelligent. Just how "sad" it was and how I felt sorry for her poor kids etc.

There was a lot of public hysteria and crying going on but the worst thing I saw there was an American tourist - a few months later - who I saw walking down into the tunnel and posing for a photograph with his arm round the pillar that the car crashed into!
