I'm torn, really torn, on this one. It seems to be so obvious, it shouldn't need spelling out. Every one of those tactics I have seen employed by relatives and friends with their children. Indeed, I have used many of them myself when caring for children.
But the evidence is clear that very many people really don't have a clue. So much of that basic common sense is missing. And I'm not even generalising - I see it round here both in the chavs and the 4x4 classes. And everything in between. So if just one person learns from this article, it has been worth printing.
Although I don't believe in turning children into angels.
