From the Arc de Triomphe we walked down the Avenue d'Iena, because it was clearly the quickest way to walk to the Eiffel Tower.
Yet, we didn't see a single other person who looked like a tourist, except perhaps for three teenage girls who stopped to ask for directions.
It was mainly residential, and we came across this memorial outside a block of flats
