Peacock
This peacock, and its companions, wandered the grounds of the Hotel Nacional unperturbed by the presence of humans. This and the preceding photos are a rather uninspired bunch taken on our first day in Havana. We had been travelling for for some sixteen hours the previous day (including two hours waiting around in Gatwick and two hours queuing at immigration in Jose Marti). We were disoriented by the squalor of our initial impressions and by an unfamiliar language. I kick myself at the opportunities I missed to photograph the derelict splendour of the buildings along the Malecon and the weird and wonderful modes of transport.
