We planned to go out - to Calpe, IIRC - but when we got to the tram station we learnt that a lot of trams were cancelled due to a Union conference. As we dithered, it began to rain, only lightly, but enough to make us think, in the absence of trams, we'd stay local. We retired to this bar to await a restaurant to open. Suddenly, the heavens opened. It seemed spectacular, but we later learnt that in Denia, not so very far away, schools were closed; Alicante streets were ankle seep. I also later discovered that at the exact same time two of my friends were gazing at the rain from restaurants in Madrid and Barcelona. And in Northern Spain, Southern France, and across Central Europe, the rain caused very serious problems
